BACKGROUND
At The Vets, veterinarians and technicians run every visit, from scheduling to billing, inside one iPad app.
PROBLEM
The flow didn't match the vet's visit. It forced vets through screens they didn't need and pulled them away from the pet into the app.
APPROACH
Rebuilt the flow around the real treatment process within the existing architecture and made it work across both iPad orientations.
RESULT
98% team adoption. Sessions 18% shorter, so vets can fit more visits into their workday.
Overview
Following the rollout, the platform achieved a 98% adoption rate across teams, demonstrating its effectiveness and usability.
UX KPIs Results
A few months after each improvement was released, we measured its success against the UX KPIs we had set.

Personas
Our primary users are veterinarians and veterinary technicians in 'The Vets' corporate veterinary service.
Veterinary technicians assist the veterinarians during medical treatments and are primarily responsible for documenting the visit in the app.

The solution

Faster Documentation
Recognizing repeated patterns, we've added default auto-fill in Intake and Subjective screens using data from the last session.

Faster Documentation

Streamlined Session Navigation
To support the KPI of reducing clicks by 30% per treatment session, the step-by-step flow was redesigned as navigable tabs.
Users can switch between pets during a session via a dropdown in the session header.
